How to Make Ice Cream with only 1 Magical Ingredient!

This weekend I hosted a Vegetarian Cooking Class at The Montreal Art of Living Centre. I was planning to make for dessert a favorite delicacy of mine, homemade dairy free ice cream. Unfortunately as I rushed out of the house to the class, I forgot the 2 dozen bananas prepping in the freezer! Luckily Britt saved the day with her delicious organic apple crisp.

A few people came up to me during the class asking me about the ice cream recipe, so I decided to dedicate a blog post on the subject.

So what is this magical one ingredient that makes the most delicious dairy free ice cream ever?

You wont believe it till you try it, but its bananas! Its so easy, and no ice cream maker needed. No Dairy, no artificial sweeteners or ingredients. All natural. All you need is a food processor or blender. I love the simplicity behind this recipe. All you need to do is freeze a bunch of ripe bananas until solid then whiz them up in your food processor or blender and see them magically transform to ice cream!

The fun thing about this magical 1 ingredient ice cream recipe is that you can get creative and experiment by creating different flavors. It you appreciate a fresh fruity flavor add some frozen organic berries to the mix. For a more rich nuttier taste throw in some nuts, almond butter, coconut, or peanut butter. If your a chocolate lover indulge and add some raw nuttela , raw cocoa powder ( dont forget to add a little agave, honey or maple syrup as raw cocoa has a slightly bitter taste).

Once you try it out, you will see just how magical this recipe really is. Its become a daily delicacy in my house and I have to honestly say I prefer it over all the rich dairy ice creams out there with all the artificial sweeteners and chemical additives. I encourage you to try it out and dont be afraid to be creative and throw in to your blender some tasty healthy stuff you love that you have in your kitchen to enhance your natural gourmet homemade ice cream. Though you may be surprised it taste delightful just the bananas on there own!

Id like to Share with you a few delicious recipes from the place I had originally discovered the magic behind this recipe called The Kitchn. http://www.thekitchn.com . In the beginning you may enjoy, like I did, exploring a few of these recipe to get the hang of it. But once you are more familiarized you will be pleasantly surprised to notice that you will no longer need to follow a recipe and can just allow your creative side to jump in and make the magic.

Ive also provided a helpful link of the step by step instructions for those who would like a more guided explanation of the steps. http://www.thekitchn.com/stepbystep-instructions-for-on-97170
